Leeds United owner looking for investors

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani is looking to sell a minority share in the football club according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The Italian, who completed his 100% takeover of the club last summer, is looking to sell up to 10% in order for the club to receive an ‘injection of funds.’

The YEP reports that the deal is said to be at an advanced stage, and would provide Leeds United boss Paul Heckingbottom with significantly more transfer funds to spend this summer as the club aim to improve on last season’s 13th place finish.

Andrea Radrizzani has set his targets for the season as a top six finish, and a place in the Sky Bet Championship Play-Offs, but the Yorkshire club fell well short of this.

The Whites ended in 13th place in the table, 15 points adrift of the top six.

It is a crucial summer for Paul Heckingbottom, who took charge at Elland Road following the departure of Thomas Christiansen.

The former Barnsley boss became the third manager in less than a year for Leeds United, and although Andrea Radrizzani is yet to come out in support of him, Heckingbottom is expected to remain in charge for the next campaign.

The proposed investment into the club will likely finance the majority of Leeds United’s transfers this summer. They have already been linked with moves for a number of players, and will want to act quickly as they look to get their business done way before the season starts.

Swansea City defender Kyle Bartley and Peterborough United striker Jack Marriott are thought to be at the top of their transfer targets.
