Newcastle United are looking to sign West Brom defender Craig Dawson, according to the Daily Mail.
The North East top flight side have joined the race for the Premier League defender, who suffered relegation with West Bromwich Albion earlier this week.
Recently promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers have previously shown an interest in taking Dawson across the Midlands.
It is believed that he will cost somewhere in the region of £15 million.
Newcastle United are expected to lose star defender and captain Jamaal Lascelles this summer, with clubs such as Liverpool and Arsenal said to be interested.
On the other hand, Wolves are looking to strengthen their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League.
The Black Country club stormed to the Sky Bet Championship title this season, picking up 99 points in their 46 games.
It was Nuno Santo’s first season in charge at Molineux, and now he is preparing for life as a Premier League boss, and Dawson could be the perfect first signing for the Portuguese boss.
The Rochdale born defender has been at West Brom since 2010, when he made the move from his hometown club for an undisclosed fee.
He has made 152 appearances in the Premier League during his time at the club, scoring 12 goals and keeping 36 clean sheets.
If Wolves do miss out on Dawson, they have a cheaper alternative available from the same club.
According to the Daily Mail, defensive partner Jonny Evans has a relegation release clause of £3 million, and is set to leave the club this summer.
