Peterborough United chairman Darragh MacAnthony has said that he expects to receive a number of bids from Leeds United this summer for star man Jack Marriott.

The Posh striker has had an excellent season, and it was capped off as he won the Sky Bet League One Golden Boot.

Marriott, 23, scored an impressive 27 goals in the third tier for Peterborough United, and 33 in all competitions.

His form this year saw him nominated for Sky Bet League One Player of the Year, and gave him a place in the PFA League One Team of the Season.

It also led to a lot of interest from Sky Bet Championship teams, with several reports suggesting that a number of bids were turned down for the player back in January.

Posh chairman MacAnthony confirmed this, saying that he rejected bids in the region of £4 million for the former Luton Town man, but has admitted in recent weeks that he expects Marriott to leave the club this summer.

Peterborough United kept hold of their star striker in a bid to achieve promotion back to the second tier, but having failed to reach the Play-Offs, it seems that he is destined to go.

And whilst his destination remains unclear, Darragh MacAnthony is fully expected Leeds to be one of the clubs who look to buy him this summer.

In response to a Leeds United fan asking if the interest in Marriott was real or just rumours, MacAnthony said that he would be “shocked” if he didn’t hear from Leeds again.
