Sheffield United head coach Chris Wilder has been voted by you as the 7th best manager in the EFL.
Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have found that you think Wilder is the 7th best manager in the Football League. He has moved down three places from last year when he finished in 4th place.
Even though the Blades cruised to the Sky Bet League One title and were very well accustomed to the Sky Bet Championship from their previous years of being in it, there was still some doubt that they could perform well and stay in the league following their promotion. But all of the doubters and critics were left dumbfounded as United were never involved in a battle against relegation and were actually contenders at the other end of the table.
Yes, Sheffield United were actually more involved in the fight for promotion rather than relegation this season despite many predictions before the season saying otherwise. While they would end up dropping away from the top six towards the end of the season, teams were never happy facing Wilder’s side. They were hard-working and always trying to push forward getting the goal, exciting the fans and exhausting the opposition.
Next time, should Wilder stay at the club following his threats of resignation due to disputes with the board, United will hope to break into the top six.
