Top 20 Managers of the EFL – 10th: Steve Bruce (Aston Villa)

Aston Villa head coach Steve Bruce has been voted by you as the 10th best manager in the EFL.

Over the last month, we have been gathering votes from you to find the best managers and players in the EFL. And after counting the votes, we have found that you think Bruce is the 10th best manager in the Football League. This is the first time he has been on the Top 20 Managers countdown.

No one was sure what Aston Villa would do this season. After dropping into the Sky Bet Championship, they were very poor and it took the appointment of Bruce to make sure they didn’t end up getting involved in a relegation battle. They could have easily turned into a Sunderland if not for the appointment of Bruce. But it was unknown how they would do in Bruce’s first full season in charge.

Perhaps we shouldn’t have doubted as Bruce did what he has done with so many clubs before, have his team fighting for promotion. Throughout the season the Villains have been fighting at the top of the league and they never looked like budging from the top six. They may not have got automatically promoted which would have been a disappointment for some but getting into the play-offs is an achievement after the disappointment they suffered last season.

Aston Villa’s season is not over yet after qualifying for the play-offs. They will soon be playing Middlesbrough in the semi-finals and hoping to succeed and get to the final and then maybe get promoted.
