Leeds United striker has played his final game for the club

Leeds United’s on loan striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga has played his final game for the Yorkshire club, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay.

The German front man joined the club on loan from German side Hamburger SV last summer, and he arrived at Elland Road to plenty of excitement from the Leeds faithful, but things haven’t really worked out, and it seems wise for both parties to simply part ways.

And that is what is going to happen according to Phil Hay of the YEP. In response to a fan earlier, he tweeted: “Leeds don’t want to keep him and even if they did, the finances of his deal at Hamburg are probably impossible.”

This appears to rule out any chance of Lasogga returning to Elland Road next season, and instead he will remain at his parent club, Hamburg.

The 26-year-old striker got his Leeds United career off to an excellent start, scoring two goals on his debut against Burton Albion, but it quickly went downhill from there.

Lasogga suffered an injury shortly after that, and then lost his place in the starting XI. His first start in a number of months came at home to Millwall, and again Lasogga bagged himself a double, but Leeds were beaten in the match.

Despite the fact that he will originally be returning to his parent club, a move away from the club in the near future may be a real possibility. The club are currently 17th in the Bundesliga, and in severe danger of suffering relegation to the second tier of German football.
