Mateusz Klich, Leeds United midfielder speaks about fallout with former manager

Leeds United midfielder speaks about fallout with former manager

Polish midfielder Mateusz Klich arrived at Elland Road last summer and was billed as one of the potential signings of the summer by a number of Sky Bet Championship fans.

However, things never really worked out for the former FC Twente man. Instead, he was loaned back to the Netherlands, joining FC Utrecht for the rest of the season.

It seems however that now former Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen has left the club, Mateusz Klich’s career at Elland Road has been revitalised.

The Pole has every intention of returning to the club, and he wants to be a part of Paul Heckingbottom’s plans for next season.

Klich spoke about his struggles at Elland Road with Polish website Sportowe Fakty, and he pinpointed the one moment when is career at Leeds United turned upside down.

As quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post, Klich said: “When I started to play fairly regularly, there was an unfortunate match against Cardiff. I badly picked shoes and during one of the actions I slipped on the pitch, I lost the ball and the opponents went with the counter that brought them a goal.”

“Officially, the manager Thomas Christiansen did not say anything to me, but then he stopped practically speaking to me and did not call me into the team for the next matches. I could have guessed that it was about this situation.”

It seems a pretty severe overreaction to a simple mistake, but that was Klich’s career under Christiansen over. Luckily for the Polish international, the former Leeds boss is long gone, and Klich can now look to rebuild his career at the club.
