Leeds United target dreaming of move to England

Leeds United ended their season on Sunday (May 6) with a victory over Queens Park Rangers, but it certainly was not a successful season for the Yorkshire club.

The Whites finished 13th in the Sky Bet Championship, seven place below owner Andrea Radrizzani’s pre-season target of a top six finish.

Because of the poor season they have endured, there is a lot of pressure on Paul Heckingbottom to get it right this summer, and deliver a good season to the Elland Road faithful next year.

The former Barnsley boss took charge of Leeds United in March following the dismissal of Thomas Christiansen, but he could not turn their form around, but will now be given the summer to stamp his own mark on the current squad.

They have already been linked with a number of players, and one of them that excited Leeds fans the most was Gavin Whyte.

Whyte is a young winger who has impressed playing for Irish side Crusaders. He has scored 21 goals this season, helping them to win the Irish League title.

The 22-year old had even more reason to celebrate last night, as he picked up two awards at the Northern Ireland football awards.

Gavin Whyte won both the Player of the Year and Young Player of the year, something that hasn’t been done since Leeds United’s very own Stuart Dallas won both, and Whyte admitted that he looks up to the Leeds United star.

Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph, Whyte said:  “I’m very proud to win both the Player of the Year and Young Player prizes. It means a lot to me. Stuart Dallas was the last player to do it and I see him as an inspiration because he was superb at Crusaders and did really well at Brentford before getting a big move to Leeds. I’ve always wanted to play in England or Scotland. That would be a dream for me.”
