Wolves star wants to stay despite interest from Champions League finalists

Wolverhampton Wanderers’ star midfielder Ruben Neves wants to stay at the club, despite attracting interest from Premier League giants Liverpool.

The Portuguese midfielder has been in excellent form this season, sparking interest from a number of Premier League clubs, but the former FC Porto man wants to stay at Molineux.

Neves helped Wolves achieve promotion from the Sky Bet Championship this season, with the Black Country going up as league winners with 99 points.

And speaking to Sky Sports at the club’s league winning parade, Neves confirmed that he wants to stay at the club.

“I want to enjoy the Premier League with this great club,” he said.

This revelation comes just hours after Wolves team mate Conor Coady said that the Portuguese international was in no rush to leave.

As quoted by the Birmingham Mail, Coady said: “He’s a special, special talent. He’s so good at what he does, he’s a fantastic player but he’s a fantastic person as well. He enjoys being here, by what he tells us.

“We want him to be here for many many years, and at the minute we love having him here. He’s such a fantastic talent.”

Ruben Neves moved to Wolverhampton Wanderers from Portuguese giants FC Porto in July 2017, for a club record fee of £15.8 million.

Prior to that, he had been a regular member of the FC Porto team after making his debut at the tender age of 17.

After his move to Wolves, Neves impressed enough to earn a call-up to the Portugal senior team, and he will be hoping to be a part of their World Cup campaign this summer.
