Wolves target discusses his future

Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with a number of players after their excellent season saw them earn promotion back to the Premier League.

The Black Country club won the Sky Bet Championship title with 99 points, with defeat at Sunderland on the final day costing them in their bid to reach the illustrious 100 points.

Nonetheless, they are now preparing for life in the top flight, and this has seen them linked with a number of good quality players.

One player that they have been heavily linked with is Stoke City goal keeper Jack Butland. The England international has been linked with a £35 million move away from the club, and the chances of him departing seemed to increase on Saturday, as the Potters’ 10-year stay in the Premier League was ended by a defeat at home to Crystal Palace.

This saw them relegated, and it is expected Jack Butland will leave the club in order to keep his international career alive, but the Stoke shot stopper has said he isn’t even thinking about what the future holds.

Speaking to The Telegraph, he said:  “The future is not something I want to think about, as it is far too raw and too early but along with most of the dressing room I had visions of playing for Stoke in the Premier League for a long period of time, and wouldn’t want the ‘Championship’ word to come into it.”

“That’s something that will be addressed but my next focus is the World Cup and beyond that we will have to wait and see. This club means a hell of a lot to me. It’s given me my opportunities in the Premier League and this is the lowest point in my career.

As he eluded to, Butland will expect to be in the England squad for the World Cup, and he is expecting to battle Jordan Pickford for the number one shirt.
