Four things about Leeds United ‘target’ striker Eisa

The season hasn’t finished for Leeds United yet, that curtain finally falls tomorrow at Elland Road when the Whites face off against QPR in a mid-table battle.

From then it is a much-criticised trip to Myanmar, once known as Burma, to play what rank as exhibition games against a Myanmar Select XI and the Myanmar national side. It is an end-of-season jaunt that has drawn criticism from all quarters, what with the country’s ruling regime being criticised with words such as ‘genocide’ and ‘ethnic cleansing’ being bandied around.

The Whites are in something of a quandary with players under treatment, recovering from surgery and only just hitting the training ground to get back to fitness for next season’s exertions. As such, Paul Heckingbottom has already gone on record as saying that United will be taking a squad made up of players who are available.

Away from that, the Leeds boss has also said that the club are looking at player targets for their 2018/19 campaign, something that fans have demanded after the collapse of this season from its promising start.

One player that has been linked with Leeds United over recent days is Cheltenham Town’s goal-scoring hotshot Mohamed Eisa – the Whites said to have watched him in today’s game against Crewe Alexandra.

Here’s four things that Leeds United fans need to know about Mohamed Eisa

1. They are not alone: Leeds’ interest in the Sudan-born striker won’t be a case of sole interest. Whilst the Whites are looking for that elusive hot-shot striker to replace the goals of Chris Wood, so are other sides. In fact, as well as the Whites watching him against Crewe, there were also four Premier League sides in attendance. Cheltenham are resigned to losing the free-scoring forward, with the consensus that it will be to a bid of over £1 million.

2. He’s had a fantastic début season in league football: Discounting the fact that it is League Two football, there is no doubting that Eisa has lit up the division with his play. He’s only been with The Robins since July 2017, but his first season at The World of Smile Stadium is likely to be his last. The reason for that – goals. It’s as simple as that, Mohamed Eisa’s 23 League Two goals, and seven assists, has left Cheltenham open to predatory sides hovering around and looking for a striker to lead the line. When it comes down to that – 23 goals is a hard statistic to ignore, especially if £1 million is the said asking price.

3. He has goals in him, he had before: Before joining Cheltenham last July, Eisa was turning out for Greenwich Borough in the Isthmian League South. After a successful trial at The Robins, he signed on the dotted line. What caught the club’s attention were the 57 goals scored over the previous two seasons with Greenwich. If you take in to account his 23 goals this season, that’s an astonishing 80 goals across just three seasons.

4. He’s a 77-rated Gold player in FIFA18 TOTS: His scoring exploits haven’t gone unnoticed by the bods at EA Sports with Eisa getting an upgrade thanks to his 23 League Two goals.
