Sheffield United boss uncertain on his future

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has admitted that he doesn’t know what the future holds for him, amidst reports that Sunderland are lining him up to become their new boss.

The Blades boss has just guided his side to a top half finish in their first season back in the Sky Bet Championship, after he helped them lift the League One title in the 2016/17 season.

His work at Bramall Lane has led to interest from Sunderland, and he is the bookies’ favourite to replace recently sacked Chris Coleman, once Stewart Donald’s takeover of the club is complete.

One of the reasons he is being linked with a move away is due to the uncertainty going on at his club.

The Sunderland Echo reports that Wilder admitted last week that he may walk away from the club, if the ownership issue is not resolved within the coming weeks.

Speaking about the interest from Sunderland, Wilder ruled out reports that they had made a direct approach, but said there was always going to be speculation.

As quoted by the Sunderland Echo, he said: “There will always be speculation. I can’t do anything about speculation. What I can is try to get clarity for my football club.”

“I’ve not thought about this being my last game. The club might get taken over tomorrow and whoever does it might want to bring their own guy in.

Sheffield United end their season at Bristol City tomorrow, knowing they can finish as high as ninth if results go their way.
