Bolton boss believes Trotters still have a good chance of survival

Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson believes that the Whites still have a chance of staying up this weekend.

The Trotters are one point adrift of safety, but Parkinson believes they need to focus on themselves when they host Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

There are still 5 teams that can face relegation at the weekend, but Bolton are favourites for the drop, as they currently sit in 23rd – only a win will do for Wanderers.

Speaking to the club website, Parkinson said ” We know it is an important weekend for us. We know we still have a good chance and we have to do our bit and hope other results go our way.

“All we can focus on is getting the result ourselves and hopefully a few favours are done for us elsewhere.”

After defeat to fellow relegation rivals Burton Albion last week, it put a big question mark over the clubs status in the second tier.

However, Parkinson believes that they have put the disappointment at the Pirelli Stadium behind them.

“It has been good. When you lose a game with the magnitude of the Burton one, it is going to knock everybody, and I understand that, but we have to put that behind us.

“We have an opportunity on Sunday, one last bite of the cherry and we have to take it.

“I think we’ve got to make sure that there’s not a hangover from last week with the players and I believe that has gone.”

Bolton will not be hoping for an instant return to League One, after gaining promotion from the third tier last season.

Wanderers will have to beat Forest at the Macron, and then hope results around the country go their way.
