Norwich City defender to leave after seven years at Carrow Road

Norwich City defender Michee Efete has confirmed he is leaving the club at the end of the season on his Twitter account.

The 21-year-old’s contract is set to expire in June and he will become a free agent after spending seven years at Carrow Road.

He has spent this season on loan at National League side Torquay United but has been unable to prevent them from slipping into the National League South. He played 26 times for the non-league side, scoring once.

Efere joined Norwich City in 2011 having previously been an academy player at Crystal Palace. He became a key player for Norwich’s Under-23’s but struggled to break into their first-team during his time at the East Anglian club.

The defender, who can play as either a right-back or centre-half, spent time on loan at Icelandic side Breidablik where he played nine times and gained valuable first-team experience. Having spent time on loan in another country, it would not be a surprise to see Efete leaves his options open to moving to a club abroad now.

Norwich City are having a bit of a clear out at the moment and a number of their players such as Wes Hoolahan, Russell Martin and now Michee Efete are leaving in the summer as they look to prepare for their next Championship campaign.

Efete leaving on a free transfer is a shame for Norwich fans as he never broke into their first-team, but that is not to say he can’t work his way back up to the Championship one day.
