Three players Birmingham City should sign to cure their goalscoring woes

It’s been a dismal season in front of goal for Birmingham City. They have found the back of the net on just 35 occasions which makes them the leagues lowest scorers.

Here are three players who can help turn their fortunes around next season:

Brett Pitman, Portsmouth F.C The thirty year old striker isn’t getting any younger but he is rolling back the years at Fratton Park. The former Ipswich Town forward has been highly influential in Pompey’s successful first season back in the third tier, and is second to Jack Marriott in the goalscoring charts with 22. Pitman would bring a wealth of Championship knowledge and know-how to St Andrews and take on the goalscoring burden missing this campaign.

Adam Armstrong, Newcastle United – Armstrong has been in scintillating form for Blackburn Rovers this season since his loan move from Newcastle in January. The diminutive striker burst on to the scene with Coventry City a couple of seasons ago, notching 20 goals in League One. However, a couple of unproductive loan spells with Barnsley and Bolton has seen Armstrong return to the third tier. With his explosive pace and natural finishing ability he could be the main to fill the goalscoring void in the Midlands.

Oli McBurnie, Swansea City – McBurnie has been in fine form for Barnsley since he joined the Tykes on loan during January. He has found the back of the net 9 times, and his goals have been crucial in giving Barnsley a fighting chance of avoiding relegation. He has been a revelation at Oakwell and has been catching the eye with a string of impressive performances. The Swansea loanee has scored more goals in half a season than any Blues player over the course of the campaign. Monk should look to sign the Scottish international.
