QPR interested in Dutch League midfielder

Queens Park Rangers have shown an interested in PEC Zwolle midfielder Youness Mokhtar, according to reports coming out of the Netherlands.

Voetbal Primeur reported that QPR are interested in the midfielder, who scored eight goals in the Dutch top flight this season.

The Moroccan midfielder also contributed five assists for his team mates in his 31 league appearances.

Queens Park Rangers are far from the richest club in the second tier of English Football, and they simply do not have the budgets to splash the cash in the way that teams such as Wolves have.

Luckily for Rangers, Mokhtar’s contract expires at the end of this season, and there have been no signs of any effort to negotiate a new deal with his current club.

That being said, Zwolle currently occupy eighth place in the Dutch Eredivise, meaning that as long as they remain there by the end of the season, they will face a Play-Off game to quality for the Europa League, and it is unlikely that any footballer will want to swap continental football to play in the Sky Bet Championship.

Mokhtar has had a mixed career. He began with Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven, but failed to make any appearances at the club. He was sold to PEC Zwolle in 2012, before leaving to play under Steve MacClaren at FC Twente.

His time in Holland looked to be over when he moved to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Nassr, but he returned to PEC Zwolle in 2016.

He has represented both Holland and Morocco at youth level.
