Millwall boss adamant to keep hold of stars

Millwall manager Neil Harris is adamant that he will keep hold of his stars during the upcoming transfer window.

Millwall went on an incredible run of form that took them from mid-table in the Sky Bet Championship up to as high as 6th, with play-offs becoming a real possibility until defeat to Middlesbrough last week.

With Harris’ stars performing so well in the second half of the season, it is inevitable that other clubs will be interested in signing them.

Millwall were promoted into the Sky Bet Championship just last season as they cruised through the play-offs, eventually defeating Bradford City 1-0 at Wembley.

But Harris is adamant that none of his players will leave in the upcoming transfer window. Speaking to News Shopper, Harris spoke about the inflamed prices in the Sky Bet Championship:

“No player is for sale at our football club this summer.

“I say that a little bit with tongue in cheek because if somebody wants to come and pay £15m for one of our players then I’ll drop them to the station.

“We’ve seen Jordan Hugill going for £10 million, Gary Madine going for £6 million, midfielders and defenders being linked with £6 million, £8 million, £10 million moves at this level. That’s the Championship and Premier League money nowadays.

“My players are great lads, they’re not egotistical, they’re part of a great team, all of them have performed well.

“The team has performed well so we’ll rightly gain praise and exposure from outside sources. But as far as myself and the chairman are concerned, no one is for sale.”
