Leeds United and Sunderland ranked in top five worst clubs to support

FourFourTwo, one of the most popular football magazines in the country, has come up with a top ten list, and Leeds United and Sunderland have both made the top five.

The other three teams on that list are North Ferriby, who have just suffered back to back relegations, Leyton Orient, who have gone from Sky Bet League One Play-Off finalists to National League strugglers in a number of seasons, and Brechin City, who failed to win a single game all season in the Scottish Championship.

Sunderland’s woeful season has meant that they will be playing third tier football for just the second time in their long history next season, which has left them in third place on the list.

Leeds United are fifth, something which has somewhat surprised the rest of the football community.

It’s been a difficult few years for the Elland Road club. They’ve struggled in the Sky Bet Championship, and even last season, when they had their best campaign in a long time under Garry Monk, they failed to reach the Play-Offs.

The Elland Road faithful went into this season full of hope and optimism. Some of their summer signings such as Alioski and Sami Saiz gave the Leeds fans a renewed sense of hope.

But that hope was quickly dashed, and the season has somewhat petered out, and it’s mid table mediocrity again for the Yorkshire club.

Whenever times get tough though Leeds fans, just remember, it could be a lot, lot worse.
