Hull City goalkeeper Allan McGregor is close to completing a return to Rangers, as per a report by the Hull Daily Mail.
The 36-year-old is said to be undergoing a medical today ahead of signing a pre-contract agreement with the Scottish Premier League giants.
McGregor is out of contract at Hull City in the summer and is free to leave them for nothing. He has been linked with a return to Scotland with Hearts but it now appears Rangers will win the race for him.
The Scotland international has been Hull’s number one goalkeeper this season and they have offered him a new deal to stay at the KCOM Stadium. However, McGregor’s head is likely to be turned by a return to his former club.
McGregor started his career at Rangers and went onto play over 200 games for them. He left the Ibrox in 2012 amidst their financial problems and joined Turkish side Besiktas on a free transfer. However, he only spent a season in Turkey and moved to Hull City in 2013 for £1.5 million.
He has been a key player for Hull City over the years and has played for them in the Premier League, Europa League and in an FA Cup final. Hull do have other goalkeeping options in David Marshall, Will Mannion and Callum Burton to cover for McGregor’s likely loss for next season.
