Middlesbrough striker ready to return to action

Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford is ready to return to the Boro lineup this weekend, after suffering an injury against Bristol City, according to the Northern Echo.

Middlesbrough host Millwall in a crucial promotion clash at The Riverside on Saturday, and Bamford looks set to make his return for Boro.

A win for the home side will see them guaranteed a Playoff place, after victories over fellow promotion hopefuls Derby County and Bristol City recently.

Tony Pulis opted not to risk Bamford at Pride Park, following his injury the week before. A decision that paid dividends as Boro claimed a huge three points in a 2-1 win.

Britt Assombalonga made the most of his chance in the spotlight, and now Pulis is faced with a selection headache over whether to restore Bamford to the starting line up, or stick with Assombalonga and use Bamford as a super sub if need be.

Despite the good showing from the former Nottingham Forest striker at Pride Park on Saturday, Bamford had been in stellar form prior to his injury and it is likely that he will regain his place at the weekend.

Rudy Gestede has also not ruled out an appearance before Boro’s season draws to a close. Gestede could make an appearance in the Playoffs, should the Teesiders finish in the top six. He suffered an ankle injury earlier on this season, and is still recovering after an operation in February.  The big centre forward will not be available for selection for the Millwall clash.

It is a huge promotion three pointer at The Riverside on saturday, and whether Bamford starts or not, Boro know that a win will see a Playoff place guaranteed.
