Aston Villa striker may call it quits at the end of the season

Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor could retire from the game at just 31, at the end of this season, according to The Sun.

The Forward is out of contract at Villa in the summer, and Steve Bruce has already made it clear that Agbonlahor will not be offered fresh terms at Villa Park.

It is thought that Agbonlahor will consider his options come the end of the season, including retiring from the game altogether.

The Villa academy graduate has spent his whole career with the Midlanders, but has spent two loan spells away with Watford and Sheffield Wednesday in 2005. He has made 339 appearances for Villa, and scored  75 times in the league. He impressed during the Villans time in the Premier League and his form didn’t go unnoticed as he was capped on three occasions by the England National team.

He has been unavailable for selection since before Christmas, after the striker picked up an injury, and he may have well of played his last game for his boyhood club.

His Villa exit in the summer, will bring an end to his 17 year stay at Villa Park. Retirement may not be on the agenda for the veteran however. It is rumoured that a potential move to the MLS is on the cards, and negotiations can begin to start about a pre-contract in the summer.

Villa are currently in the Playoff places in the Championship and are looking for a return to the Premier League after two years away. Can Agbonlahor manage one last appearance in claret and blue before his impending exit?
