Leeds United, Ex-Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen set to return to management with Isreali giants

Ex-Leeds United boss Thomas Christiansen set to return to management with Isreali giants

Thomas Christiansen is set for a return to management with Isreali giants Maccabi Tel Aviv, according to Football Insider.

The 45-year-old has been without a job since he was sacked by Leeds United in February after a poor run of results. He was replaced by Paul Heckingbottom, who has struggled to make an immediate impact at Elland Road.

Thomas Christiansen joined the Whites last summer after he left Cyprian side APEOL. He won the Cypriot league title in his only season there and also got APEOL to the domestic cup final but they ultimately lost and he left them in May.

He started life in England well with Leeds and they competed at the top end of the division at the start of the campaign but lost their way over January and February.

Christiansen played for the likes of Villarreal, Bochum and Hannover in his playing days. He then started his managerial career with AEK Larnaca before joining APEOL in 2016. His next move was Leeds but his spell in England came to a premature end. However, if reports are believed to be true, he will be back in the dug-out next season with Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Maccabi Tel Aviv is currently the home of Derby County’s Nick Blackman on loan and former Bolton Wanderers, Sunderland, Chelsea and Manchester City defender Tal Ben-Haim. They could be managed by Christiansen next season.
