Fulham will have to pay £20m if they want to make Aleksandar Mitrovic’s loan permanent next season, according to The Sunday People,
Since joining from Newcastle in January, Mitrovic has excelled at Craven Cottage and has been a crucial aspect of Fulham’s automatic promotion charge.
The Serbian international has scored eleven times for the Cottagers as well as registering one assist in his short tenure. He has been the missing piece of the jigsaw for Fulham, as his goals have been influential in preserving their 22 game unbeaten run.
Mitrovic had fallen out of favour at St James’ Park, and found himself slipping down the pecking order in terms of strikers. His Newcastle career could be over if Fulham stump up the £20m asking price for the striker and he could become a permanent member of Slavisa Jokanovic’s side next campaign.
The 23 year old had joined Newcastle from Anderlecht in 2015, tasked with helping the North East side preserve their Premier League status. However, he suffered relegation with the Magpies and spent last season in the Championship. He has found appearances hard to come by in his second stint in the Premier League and Mitrovic, himself, admitted that going out on loan was the best solution for his career.
He has only managed to find the net on 14 occasions during his 65 appearances for Newcastle. A tally he has almost surpassed throughout his short time with Fulham.
Fulham will surely be keen to extend Mitrovic’s spell at Craven Cottage, but a £20m pound price tag may put any deal in jeopardy, especially if Fulham fail to gain promotion to the Premier League this time around.
