Hull City have mathematically secured their Championship survival after a 5-5 draw away to Bristol City this afternoon.
The Tigers were 4-2 down but fought back to lead 5-4 going into injury time, only for Bristol City’s Joe Bryan to equlaise in the stoppage time. A brace from Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson and goals from Fikayo Tomori, Fraizer Campbell and Abel Hernandez nearly gave Hull the comeback of the season.
Hull will be disappointed not to win the game after fighting back so impressively but many of their fans would have taken a point before the game. Their focus now will be on their remaining two games against Cardiff City and Brentford and despite their Championship status already secure for next season, they need to ensure they don’t take their foot off the gas.
Today’s game between Bristol City and Hull City is probably the strangest game of this season in the Football League. Here is how Hull’s fans reacted on Twitter to this 10-goal thriller-
FT: Bristol 5-5 City. We are, in so many ways, the most preposterous football club to have ever existed. #hcafc

Who scores five goals away from home and doesn’t win? Christ alive. What are we like? #hcafc

5-5 is the sort of deranged, amateurish scoreline you get in League 8. #hcafc

When both sides score 5 goals, I think you maybe do have to respect the point. #hcafc

A great game, but frustrating result in the end.
What it does show is that we are a work in progress, but aren't a million miles off being a good side.#hcafc #allamout

If #HCAFC could defend like they attack, they'd be given the whole Championship a run for it's money. #Pfffffft
