Bristol City set to sign Norwich City winger ahead of next season

Bristol City are set to sign Norwich City winger Marley Watkins, according to Bristol Live.

The Robins are said to be preparing already for next season and have started to plot their summer transfer targets already.

Marley Watkins is one who is likely to move to Ashton Gate over the coming months. He knows Bristol City boss Lee Johnson well from their time at Barnsley together and he was the subject of a bid from the Robins in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old joined Championship side Norwich City last summer on a free transfer from Barnsley. However, he has struggled to nail down a permanent slot in their first-team and has opted to move away to increase his chances of playing regular football.

He started his career at Swansea City but never made it into their senior squad. He worked his way up through the lower leagues with spells at Cheltenham Town, Bath City and Hereford United before being signed by Scottish Premier League side Inverness Caledonian Thistle in 2013.

Watkins spent two seasons in Scotland before he was snapped up by Barnsley. He helped the Tykes gain promotion to the Championship by scoring 7 goals and built upon that in the second tier when he bagged 10 goals to help them to safety. He is a talented player and will be a decent signing for Bristol City.
