Cardiff City are interested in signing Motherwell goalkeeper Trevor Carson, as per a report by HITC Sport.
Neil Warnock is keen on bringing in a back-up goalkeeper for next season and sees the Scottish Premier League shot stopper as an ideal candidate. His side will now join Celtic in the race for Carson.
Cardiff, who are currently in the automatic promotion places and could be heading for the Premier League, do have Neil Etheridge, Brian Murphy and Lee Camp (currently out on loan at Sunderland) as their goalkeeping options but want Carson in for next season.
Trevor Carson has played a key role in Motherwell’s journey to get to the Scottish Cup final this season. He has also proven himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Scotland.
He started his career at Sunderland but never broke into the first-team at the Stadium of Light. Loan spells at Chesterfield, Lincoln City, Brentford, Bury and Hull City followed before a permanent switch to Bury in 2014.
Since then, Carson spent time in the Football League with Bury, Portsmouth, Cheltenham Town and Hartlepool United before joining Motherwell in June 2017.
He has impressed in Scotland, hence why Celtic are keen on signing him. Brendan Rodgers is looking to bring in a goalkeeper in the summer and is a fan of Carson, However, Cardiff City will rival them for his signature and this appears like a story which will carry on for now.
