Five players Shrewsbury Town should sign in the summer

Shrewsbury Town have had an excellent season under Paul Hurst and are in the promotion race for the Championship. Here are five players they should sign next season-

Hope Akpan, Burton Albion- The experienced midfielder is a solid midfielder and would shrewd signing by Paul Hurst. The former Everton, Hull City, Crawley Town and Blackburn Rovers man is out of contract at Burton Albion in the summer and will be a free agent.

Scott Golbourne, Bristol City- He would be a good signing regardless of what league they are in next season. He has played in both the Championship and League One in his career for the likes of Wolves and Barnsley and is a free agent in June with as his deal with Bristol City will be up.

Dean Henderson, Manchester United- The highly-rated goalkeeper has spent this season on loan with the Shrews and has been excellent. They should try and bring him to Meadow Lane again in the next campaign but he will be hard to get again.

Danny Whitehead, Macclesfield Town- The former Stockport County, West Ham United and Wigan Athletic midfielder has been in fine form for the Silkmen and has been a key player for them as they look set to clinch the National League title. He is a hidden gem in the fifth tier and should be looked at by Shrewsbury.

Eoin Doyle, Preston North End- He has spent this season on loan at Oldham Athletic and has scored 14 goals for them. He has fallen down the pecking order at Preston but would be a decent signing for Shrewsbury next season in the Championship or League One.
