Premier League duo AFC Bournemouth and Burnley are both keen on signing Brentford’s Ollie Watkins, according to Devon Live.
The Championship side are bracing themselves for bids of up to £10 million in the summer for the highly-rated striker. Brentford signed him last summer for £1.8 million from League Two side Exeter City and look set to make a very tidy profit on him.
The 22-year-old has adapted to life in the Championship very well. He has scored 9 goals this season, his first at this level, in 33 league appearances and has become a fans; favourite at Griffin Park.
Ollie Watkins joined Exeter City at the age of 10 and rose through their youth ranks. He made his first-team debut in May 2014 in a League Two game for the Grecians against Hartlepool United. He went on loan to non-league side Weston-Super-Mare in December 2014 and was prolific for them, scoring 10 goals in 24 games.
On his return to Exeter for the 2015/16 season, he scored 8 league goals before firing 15 last season to help get Exeter into the Play-Offs. With various Championship clubs after him in the summer, it was Brentford who won the race for him.
The Bees will now face a battle to hold onto him now at the end of the season with Premier League sides such as Bournemouth and Burnley showing an interest. The 22-year-old is no doubt a player to keep an eye on in the future.
