Leeds are set to axe manager Paul Heckingbottom and are lining up a list of potential replacements, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.
Leeds have endured a horrendous run of form since the turn of the year and last night’s defeat to Preston means they have only won two of their last 19 games.
In December, Leeds was fifth in the Championship table but this run of just two victories in 19 games has left them in 14th and ended any hope of winning promotion to the Premier League.
Heckingbottom was appointed to replace ex boss Thomas Christiansen, who was sacked in February following their dreadful start to 2018, but the former Barnsley boss has been unable to turn the his side’s fortunes around.
Heckingbottom was tasked with getting Leeds into the play-offs, but they are now worse off than they were under Christiansen, leading to serious questions within the corridors of power at Elland Road.
Heckingbottom has won just two of his first 12 games in charge and the club are now set to end Heckingbottom’s services and look for a new manager, who will rebuild for next season
But now it looks likely that Heckingbottom will be without an employer for the foreseeable future, and here is what Leeds United fans think of this situation:
Why are people now surprised that Heckingbottom is out of his depth? It was a shocking decision to appoint him in the first place, you don’t replace a manager with someone who is doing worse than yourself in the same league ffs #CheapOption #CopOut #lufc

Paul Heckingbottom on the brink of the sack at Leeds United already… 😬
Shambles. 🙈
Can see big Mick McCarthy taking the reins at Elland Road now. ✅#LUFC

Hardly surprising the reports have started after the results since Hecky's appointment, but surely wielding the axe this early with the squad in the state it's in in regards to injuries would be too soon? #LUFC https://t.co/z8i3uQqO0Y

Gotta go, it's not just the results, the players are not performing for him. We've gone backwards even more so than under Christiansen. #lufc

Don’t get what sacking hecky will do. Surely people are starting to realise it’s the players and not the manager or are our fans still thick as fuck? #lufc
