Cardiff City midfielder Aron Gunnarsson is a target for various clubs for the summer, according to The Sun.
The Iceland international’s contract expires at Cardiff at the end of the season meaning he could leave them on a free transfer. It could also be the case he leaves even if they are promoted to the Premier League.
His contract situation has left many clubs on red alert. He is attracting attention from clubs all over the world. Turkish giants Besiktas, Greek sides Olympiakos and AEK Athens, Croatian outfit Dynamo Zagreb as well as clubs from the Major League Soccer are all said to be interested.
Gunnarsson will not be short of options. He is expected to be in the Iceland squad for the World Cup in Russia this summer and may want to put his Cardiff future on hold for that. If he impresses on the world stage, he could open up more options for potential moves.
The 28-year-old moved to England in 2008 to join Coventry City. He spent three years with the Sky Blues but left them at the expiry of his contract to join Cardiff City in 2011. He has since played over 200 games for the Bluebirds and helped them get promoted to the Premier League in 2013.
Losing Gunnarsson would be a huge blow to Cardiff this summer and he would be a great miss to their fans.
