Five players Sunderland could lose for free in the summer

Sunderland have had a terrible season and look set for a relegation to League One. Here are five players they could lose in the summer for nothing-

Marc Wilson- He joined Sunderland last summer on a free transfer and signed a one-year contract. The former Portsmouth, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion man looks likely to move on when his contract expires having struggled to make an impact with the Black Cats.

Kazenga LuaLua- The 27-year-old winger signed a short-term contract with Sunderland in January until the end of the season. He looks set to be a free agent in the summer with the Black Cats unlikely to renew his contract if they go down.

Billy Jones- The experienced right-back is another who is set to leave at the expiry of his contract in June. The Black Cats will get players like Jones off their wage bill in the summer to help them reduce their costs.

John O’Shea- He has announced that he will retire when his contract expires at the end of the season. The republic of Ireland international has played over 200 games for Sunderland since joining them from Manchester United in 2011.

Tom Beadling- The Australian defender is currently on loan at Scottish side Dunfermline and is expected to leave Sunderland in the summer when his contract expires.
