Five players Preston North End could lose for free in the summer

Preston North End have had an impressive season under Alex Neil and will be hoping for more of the same in the next campaign. Here are five players they could lose for free in the summer-

Paul Gallagher- The experienced midfielder’s deal is up in June. The 33-year-old has played for Preston since 2013, having previously played for Leicester City. He has been a popular player at Deepdale and their fans will hope that he can sign on for another year at least.

Paul Huntington- He has played over 200 games for Preston since he signed for them in 2012 from Yeovil Town. His contract expires in June and he could leave Deepdale for nothing. The former Newcastle United, Leeds United, Stockport County and Yeovil Town defender has been an important player for Preston over the past six years.

Calum Woods- The 31-year-old right-back is expected to leave when his contract expires in June. He joined Preston in 2014 on a free transfer from Huddersfield Town but has mostly been used by Preston as a back-up defender.

John Welsh- Another older member of the Preston squad who could leave in the summer. The 34-year-old midfielder, formerly of Liverpool, Hull City and Tranmere Rovers, has played 170 games for the Lilywhites to date.

Matthew Hudson- The highly-rated young goalkeeper’s contract is up at the end of the season. He has risen through the youth ranks at Preston and it would be a shame to see him get released.
